
Cara Lodge provides Residential Treatment for boys aged 14-18 years old with serious substance misuse and co-existing psycho-social challenging issues. Cara Lodge has a multi-disciplinary staff team which includes childcare, counsellors, education, clinical, catering, horticulture, maintenance, administrative and management personnel who deliver a highly structured and diverse treatment programme.
As part of our treatment programme the young people engage in a wide variety of activities such as kick boxing, the gym, horse riding and swimming to allow them experience natural highs without substances. They also participate in normal everyday processes such as attending the library, dog walking, shopping in order to reintegrate them back into society.
Our approach is holistic and covers several domains in the treatment process in a non-judgemental, child-centred environment.
We have an educational facility which enables the young people remain in education while in treatment allowing them to complete fetac levels, state exams and LCA modules in conjunction with their school. Outside of the academic subjects we offer woodwork, projects, horticulture and cooking to the young people.
Our staff team comprises of care staff, a counsellor, a chef, project workers and teachers.
