Freedom of Information

Cork ETB is a public body under the Freedom of Information Act 2014 and is, therefore, covered by its provisions as and from 14th April, 2015.

Section 8 of this Act requires FOI bodies to prepare and publish as much information as possible in an open and accessible manner on a routine basis and as part of their normal business activities.

Under the FOI Act, every person has the right to:

  • access official records held by public bodies prescribed under the Act;
  • have personal information held on them corrected or updated; and
  • be given reasons for decisions taken by public bodies that affect them.

How to Make a Freedom Of Information Request

All FOI requests should be made in writing to: The FOI Officer, Cork ETB, 21 Lavitt’s Quay, Cork or by email to foi@corketb.ie.

Requests should:

  • specify that the request is being made under the FOI Act;
  • contain enough details to enable the record(s) requested to be readily identified; and
  • be signed and dated.

Requests for personal information will require proof of identity from the requester.

Requests may be for any personal records whenever created or for non-personal records created from April 2008 onwards.

Charges

No fee applies to FOI requests for personal information.

In the case of requests for non-personal information, charges may be applied depending on the level of search, retrieval and copying required.
